Braids, a three-piece experimental pop band from Montreal.
Beguiling and exciting. Braids have created one of the finest records of the year so far – 9/10 – DrownedInSound
Think the fidgety, jazz-inflected percussion featured on Radiohead’s The King of Limbs, the spacial sadness of Dummy-era Portishead and a little bit of Tori Amos’s ethereal spirit on vocals.
This is monochrome, electronica-heavy starkness of an album, with songs depicting themes such as pornography, abuse and slutshaming.
Good. No… Brilliant!
